This is a story of my friend Jack Thomson who took his startup from $100 to $100000 in 100 days. Yes it was started as a $100 startup. Before starting this article let me clear you one thing I am not promoting anyone here, Its just a case study.
Who is Jack Thomson ?
Jack Thomson was born in New Zealand in 1987. He struggled a lot before 2018 and just one step changed his life in June 2017. In 2017 he started selling products online but because of lots of competition his startup didn’t made any sales, but he didn’t give up, for the next few months he struggle, fall but didn’t give up and then suddenly miracle happened which turns his $100 Startup into now $70000.
Jack $100000 Business
So, In June 2017 Jack joined few E-Commerce websites along with his own website (www.jackspecialtoys.com). His first product was a fluffy toy which was a product of made in china. Right now Jack monthly revenue is $70000 + which is soon going to hit $100000, Lets see how it all started and How Jack is earning $$$$$ per month.
How it started
Back in 2017, Jack heard about online selling business. He started searching products to sell to make some profit online. He found many good products but customers buying rate was poor. One day while travelling with his girlfriend (something happened that he didn’t reveal during the interview session with me). He realised that toys are one of the most demanding things in this world. That time because of that incident he choose a fluffy toy as his first product .
Above picture was of his first product, he named that product Fluffybun which is a combination of Fluffy + Bunny. With $100 and this product he started his journey of becoming a millionaire.
The $100 Journey: How $100 Helps him ?
As I already mentioned that his startup starts with $100, So lets begin with this. He sold his $900 watch to his senior for just $100 to start his online business. After getting $100 from his senior he went to alibaba (One of the biggest E-commerce website in this world) and started searching a best and relevant manufactures for Fluffy Toy, He mentioned that he found many suppliers and choose one.
Now the most amazing thing happened with him was that supplier he choose was new to the field and offered free sample to him. Yes that was kinda gift for him as his sample cost which was around $80 with delivery was suddenly turns into $0.
So he got his product after 28 days from china, during 28 days he thought many things, that supplier was a fake one and all. He contacted supplier every day and bother him :P, Yes its true.
But after a long wait of 28 days he got the product and he told me that when he received the product he ran to his girlfriends house and said few line that are”Baby, Jessus sent us a small gift to change our life, Please be my side till the end”. After that he named his first product as Fluffybun which is a combination of Fluffy + Bunny.
He got the product which cost him $0, So question arises where is that $100 he started ?
So, after receiving the product he made a website (He didn’t reveal during the interview) and hosted that website with google. After that he made a local group in facebook and started posting pictures of that product. Where this was something new to his area he started loosing people from the group, yes people started leaving his group because product presentation was poor.
Then he came into Facebook Advertisement where he invested $80 in two days just to get one sale. Well I didn’t told you the cost of one fluffy toy he was selling right?
He was selling that free product at $35 and in 5 days from the delivery he lost $80 in Fb advertisement. He disappointed a lot and suddenly that senior who bought his watch at $100 called him and asked the price of Fluffybun. He smiled and cried and replied “its for $35 but I can give you at $30”,senior replied “its expensive, but I want to give something like this to my girlfriend make it $20”,
Jack was so sure about the product that he know his girlfriend will surely like this toy so he bet with him that if his girlfriend do not like this toy he will give him $20.
After few hours on the same day his senior called him and order 10 more Fluffybun. The moment he called him and gave him the order he cried and called the supplier and gave him a order of 1000 pieces. But now supplier need 50% in advance.
1 Fluffybun = $1
1000 Fluffybun = $1000 + Shipping which was $1476 (Its too expensive)
At that time he had only $55 ($20 from $100 and $35 from the sample he sold) and he dont know how to mange this much amount to order.
Fluffybun: Turning Point
When he was worried about the order, he heard a news “In need of AB+ Positive Blood Urgently”. He ran to the hospital as his blood is AB+, and made a deal of $500 for blood. After giving the blood patient family gave him an envelop with money he asked. But he got surprised with $4500. Family replied “Life is more valuable then money, take this as a present from us”.
And the journey begins, He came back and gave the order of 1000 pieces and after 2 Months he got the product. He researched a lot about the market and other things and at that time he didn’t have a business setup, an EIN number and a business bank account.
He gave 50 Fluffybun to the school going students for free with a product template for making people aware about Fluffybun. In next 2 week he got 20 orders and he earned $387 after all expense. So finally he started getting sales but where there is a good news there is a bad news, he got 7 orders for refund which was really disappointed for him.
In next 2 weeks his sales came to 0 sales. He disappointed and started thinking to leave this business. But as we know where there is a hope there is a will. His will power was so strong that he started more research to get the answer that why he lost everything in just 2 weeks.
After sometime his senior met him and told him about the product that “its simple, its not that much attractive and there are no variant, its just a single white bunny, so do something for that, you will surely get success”. “IT MATTERS A LOT IN GETTING SALES“.
After his senior statement few more people said the same words to him the he finally got the reason of loosing market.
When He Met Triabee
When he got to know about the reason of lossing sales or market, he started searching someone for this and that was the first time we met online. He asked me for help to make his product variants. As, I am a Product Analyst not a designer, I recommended him few websites and people and he hired one. He spent $600 in that and restarted marketing but still the sale was 0.
While suffering the web in January 2018 he saw an advertisement in google about Triabee, it is a company or a group of Ninjas (No One Knows) who help people in Product, Marketing & all stuffs related to product. He get into the website and subscribe the plan (which cost is $0) after that one dedicated executive (Ninja) assigned to him and he helped in every thing from product to marketing.
Till then he spent $1476 (Product & Delivery) + $600 (Product Presentation) +$ 800 (Facebook Marketing) = $2876 and earned $387 + $35 = $422 excluding refund.

Fluffybun Launched Towards the Sky
Before hiring Triabee for Fluffybun, Jack was worried about his online selling business. But after hiring Triabee, Fluffybun which was going towards the ground, changed his direction towards the sky. In Feb 2018, Jack hired the company for his product and his journey started towards the sky.
Jack came up with more designs of Fluffybun which changed his market style and everything. The new Fluffybuns were too cool that he started getting orders in which a single order contains 4-7 pieces of Fluffybun.
In February where there was no sales before. He started getting orders, Initially order was less but atleast not zero, he started making profit. Here is one of the product he is saling online.
He still not getting sales then he get into Marketing with Triabee Ninja and this was the time where his rocket speeds up. In April 2018 Triabee Ninja designed a campaign for Jack’s Company “Jack Special Toys“. They named the campaign as “Be Fluffy” and showed the campaign details to him. It was a little bit expensive but with good potential he replied in the interview.
He agreed and begin the campaign in April 2018, Given down is the stat of April Month Campaign.
He spent in total $1756 including taxes and other fees with Triabee and got this result. Jack is now rebranding his startup as Fluffybun (before it was www.jackspecialtoys.com).
After running the campaign just for 3 months he got this result in the month of May and June given down below is thae , It looks great ?, But where he got this much result he invested some amount to get this result.
This is all about Jack Fluppybun, In this journey where he stuggled a lot he invested a lot too. In past few months where is monthly earning touched to $70000+, He invested $20000 in past 3 month to touch this target. His words cleared me one thing during the interview session, If you have have strong determination and not afraid of anything then you are unstopable.

What Should You Take Away From All of This?
Jack Thomson an Entrepreneur taught me many things.
Never Give Up– The main thing in this interview is Never Give Up doesnt matter what ever situation will you face.
Golden Egg – Whatever you are selling can be a golden egg for you, Its all about how you enter into the market.
Product – Dosent Matter how good good product you have, If presentation is not good you will loose the market for sure.
Marketing is the Key – Marketing is one of the essential thing to grab the market.
Designs – Designs and other visual things attracts more customers.
Miracle Happens – Miracle do happens just believe in yourself.
